I will have some new posts for tomorrow, but for now here are two interesting websites to check out:
- Kay Tikal. An excellent web site with lots of substantial posts. The site is mostly in French.
- Crisis Commons. This is one of those groups that is trying to find ways to use technology to help with crisis management. I am not entirely sure what is going on there, but I need to spend more time on their site. It seems they do have lots of volunteers. They have one web project that is meant to connect people with needs to people with resources, but the posts seem to be largely from January. They are connected in some fashion, it seems, to the Open Street Map project which is worth looking at along with Wikimapia. When I look at the area Santo (outside P-aP on the way to Croix-des-Bouquets) on Wikimapia you can clearly see the street Santo 5 marked whereas on Open Street Map you see Santo 3 and 9 but it is not clear if the road in between is Santo 5. It is a bit hard to tell form the map of OSM and the aerial photography of Wikimapia if one is more useful; clearly both are being updated, but neither is very intuitive to use (e.g., what are the symbols? where is the key?). It would be nice if they could combine efforts in some way.
