The highly successful Coalition of Immokalee Workers has generated a travelling exhibit entitled the Florida Modern Slavery Museum that will be a part of its Farmworker Freedom March that starts this weekend and runs through April 15th (so far). In case you wondering what this has to do with Haiti: for decades, several of the migrant farmworker streams in the United States have had included significant Haitian populations. The continuation of plantation-like work culture in Florida and other parts of the South in the US goes to show that old fashioned organizing, with some new tricks to increase public understand, is as important now than ever.
